Belle Michelle

Some images from my recent (and first!) photo shoot in New York City, where I am currently interning for one of my photography heroes, Chris Buck.   Chris is encouraging me to work on personal projects while I'm in town, and I really value his generous advice and feedback.

I recently met Michelle Rose Cagianese, of the band Frances Rose, through my brother Mike, and she took time to pose for some photographs for me this weekend on her rooftop in manhattan.
Was so thrilled to work with such a stunningly cool and creative person, this was a really lovely collaboration.
I also had the pleasure of photographing Michelle's sister Sarah Frances (also of Frances Rose), and will be posting more images from this shoot soon.
Thank you Michelle! You are a Belle;)

* Very special thank you to Chiara Issa, Brandon Warren and Holly Mann for helping with this shoot.  It is so wonderful having your support!

The Farmer's Wife

Click on the below logo to see our 15-second video spot:

This semester, my classmate, Olivia McCrary and I worked as photographers on a project, along with Daria Drake, a graphic designer, to design an advertising campaign for a local antique and flower store, The Farmers Wife.  This place is amazing - extremely well curated items that is a go-to for interior designers and stylists.  The owners were extremely generous with their time and access to their shop in Greensboro, and we were so happy to showcase their wonderful business.

One of the pieces that Daria designed for The Farmer's Wife was a catalog. Olivia McCrary and I did the photography, and Daria helped with styling.  Special Thanks to the lovely Christine Damschroder (our 'Farmer's Wife'), and to Aaron Acosta for photo assisting.

We are working on a campaign project for The Farmer's Wife, a fantastic home and flower shop in Greensboro, NC.  While I was taking detail shots throughout the store, this little plant really caught my eye.  It is such a fuzzy little thing!

Many more images from The Farmers Wife joint project will be posted next week.  Very excited to see how it all shapes up!

Awards Season...

I recently found out that I have been selected as a finalist in Photographer's Forum magazine's Best of College Photography 2012.  Approximately 18,000 images are submitted, and they choose the top 8% to be finalists.  Of course, this means I keep company with about 1500 other photographers, but it is still very nice to know that someone looked at a big group of photos and said, "eh, that one's not so bad".

The above image of my friend, songwriter Steph Stewart, was the chosen image, and will be published in Photographer's Forum magazine's 32nd Annual College Photographers issue.

Thanks again to the lovely steph for spending so much time with me on this portrait project.

The lovely Victoria Luther worked with me for a self promo this week.  She is a new model, and I think is just stunning.  She is also amazingly sweet and incredibly polite.

We had a lot of fun playing with makeup and hair and this awesome suede jacket loaned to us by my fashionable friend Anna Tucker.

Thanks Anna, and thank you Victoria!! You are a gem.

KMcKay Handbags

Katie Spindler, owner of KMcKay Handbags, handmade leather handbags.

Katie is a dear friend of mine, and is about to officially launch her business. She is an amazing artist, brilliant painter and seriously talented accessories designer. Every bit of this handbag is hand drawn, stamped, and sewn by Katie herself.
I am so honored to have had the chance to provide some promotional photographs for her new endeavor, and doing a shoot with one of my best friends is more fun than just about anything else. Go Katie!! Rock it, girl.
For personal requests for Katie to make a handbag of your very own, visit Katie's shop on etsy.  Although she doesn't yet have products listed on the site, contact her to talk about having a one-of-a-kind KMcKay handbag of your very own.
